Reinventing the Book Tour: The 24-Hour Customer will launch using the Public Cisco’s TelePresence Suites

Written by admin on August 29th, 2010

On August 31 2010, Adrian Ott, author of The 24-Hour Customer, will hold the first official book launch celebration using Cisco’s Public TelePresence Suites. The event will be connecting Santa Clara, CA, New York City Go There Virtual Studios by Marriott, and Los Angeles. Others will join in the event using WebEx from other global locations.

Cisco’s Public TelePresence Suites offered a fresh way to reach out to Adrian’s geographically distributed community very quickly. It also enables her editors and marketing team at HarperCollins, located in New York City, to join the event virtually. “I am thrilled to bring together my community to participate in the launch using the Public TelePresence Suites,” said Adrian, “This technology is also good for the environment and I can still be home at night with my family.”
The 24-Hour Customer explores how time factors into customer decision-making. TelePresence is showcased in the book as to how geographic time-zone limitations are diminishing and how such changes enable new ways to engage with customers.

With the focus of the book on the value of time, it made sense for Adrian to partner with Cisco on reinventing the traditional book tour by putting theory into practice. With traditional book tours, a mainstay in the publishing business, an author travels from city to city visiting local bookstores. Such road trips can last for months and be grueling not only on the author but on the author’s family during the absence.

Adrian anticipates that these types of virtual collaboration events will become more common place in the future. It will revolutionize the way companies engage with their customers and gain market traction.
